Separation and divorce does not have to mean confrontation and extensive use of the legal system.  We are highly experienced in using alternative methods to settle disputes.  Alternative dispute resolution can mean issues over money and children are settled amicably and via discussion and negotiation, rather than the adversarial court system.

Current government policy is aiming to increase this option during the divorce process, to minimise court time and the long term damage that can occur from protracted disagreement.

We can help minimise conflict in a number of ways, including

  • Mediation – We work with all parties in a non-confrontational manner to help them agree what is best for them.
  • Collaborative law – please see our Links page for more details on how this works to minimise disagreements and conflict.
  • Four-way meetings – Discussing issues face to face can stop misunderstandings and may resolve issues far faster than traditional methods.
  • Solicitor to solicitor negotiation – Even if you do not wish to meet your ex-partner face to face, we can still negotiate with their lawyer and discuss issues in a more conciliatory way.
