Our trainees usually spend six months in three of the following departments:

• Corporate (including employment and company
• commercial)
• Commercial property
• Dispute resolution
• Personal injury
• Residential conveyancing
• Private client

You will be encouraged to spend your last six-month seat in the team of your choice, eventually giving you a combined twelve month's experience in the area of law in which you wish to specialise.

Although your training is hands-on, we don't throw you in at the deep end. We have a comprehensive trainee induction programme to help you become familiar with the firm's style of working, its culture and everyday policies and procedures.

We have designed a special training passport to help our trainees keep an accurate record of their work as well as outlining what experience you need to gain in each department.

You will receive valuable on-the-job learning opportunities throughout your training contract. To enhance the experience you receive you will also take part in more formal training. We will support you in attending the Professional Skills Course (PSC), covering essential topics such as client care and professional standards, advocacy and communication and financial and business skills.

You will also be encouraged to attend various technical and legal seminars and lectures throughout your contract, and will be invited to attend all in-house client seminars.

During each of your seats you will be allocated a supervisor, experienced in coaching and mentoring trainees. You will begin by shadowing their work and gradually take on more responsibility as you grow in confidence and ability. They will be responsible for monitoring your workload, providing constant support and will address any queries you may have.

We appreciate that you will want regular feedback on how you are progressing and we ensure that you receive detailed feedback at the end of each of your seats. This is your opportunity to comment openly on your training progress, and for us to work together to identify your future training needs.
