DARREN SHERBORNE - PARTNER
Employment law is notoriously complex and fast-changing. If relationships break down with employees, your greatest asset could turn into your worst nightmare. Were here to make sure that does not happen.
Being proactive and anticipating employment issues before they arise is a vital part of our service. Most of our employment clients have more than 50 staff and operate in industry sectors that include recruitment, retail, property development, care and construction.
When employment problems occur they often need to be dealt with immediately. Clients do not have time to wait for hours for a response from their legal advisers. The size of our team means that we can be highly responsive. We also pride ourselves on using plain English, keeping letters short and to the point and focusing on getting our clients quick results.
In employment law, as with other areas of commercial law, our job is to help our clients achieve their objectives and not to tell them what they cannot do.
As well as having an impressive track record at employment tribunals, we support our clients with regular technical updates, training and seminars to keep their skills updated. A number of our employment team have worked in industry and therefore they appreciate what it is like to be on the clients side.
The employment team hold their own in the top tier of law firms for employment law in Gloucestershire and the M4 corridor. Two of the team, Darren Sherborne and Andrea Bateman, have been named as leaders in their field by independent legal directory, the Legal 500. The employment team is also independently rated by a second legal directory, Chambers UK.
Our work includes:
TUPE issues
Executive appointments and severance
Redundancy and trade union issues
Absence management
Discrimination (age, sex, race, religion, disability)
Disciplinary matters
Family friendly rights, staff consultation
Employer obligations
Company restructuring and reorganisation
Representation at employment tribunals
