Having made a name for himself in the construction industry, David Holmes wanted to experience life as a lawyer. He turned to BPE when it became clear that his ambitions could be matched by the “extremely friendly and supportive” firm.

“I had many attractive offers on the table but BPE stood out as the firm of solicitors that could offer me the best overall package and where I could start to add real value at an early stage. My practical experience stood me in good stead and the depth of training offered by the firm has given me a real grounding in the legal issues facing the industry” said David, a keen hill walker and caver outside of work.

“Some of the larger firms were unable to provide bespoke training in the practical application of construction and engineering law required in order to further my career. However, when I outlined my ambitions to BPE, they were very keen to hear my views. They recognised my potential immediately and have given me free reign to specialise in a specific area that’s right for me,” he added.

“Unlike other trainees I do not have to worry about which area of the firm I wish to specialise in as following my qualification I would like to work in the construction & engineering team and the firm has been very supportive of my attempts to achieve this.

“BPE have a friendly and hard working construction and engineering team. Coupled with inter-department banter and rivalry, there’s a real feeling of togetherness and that we’re all striving towards the same goals. I’ve no doubt that choosing BPE has been the right move for me,” said David.
