Construction team expansion
BPE has strengthened its construction team with the recent appointment of experienced Associate Jon Close.
Jon, who specialises in construction and engineering law, joins the firm from Bristol-based Osborne Clarke. His straightforward, result-driven advice and commercial approach is valued by clients.
He advises on all forms of building contracts, suites of professional appointments and ancillary documents. He has acted for a wide range of employers and contractors in the development and natural resources sectors.
Jon, who was brought up in Stroud, provides value to clients at procurement stage by identifying and minimising risk before disputes arise. When dispute is inevitable however, he is experienced in mediation and is adept at adjudication and Technology and Construction Court litigation, where he pursues matters with tenacity and focus.
Head of BPE's Construction and Engineering team Derryn Rolfe said: “Jon's experience means that he appreciates clients do not expect long-winded technical explanations but rather his concise, commercial take on an issue. He joins us with genuine knowledge of the construction industry in the South West and is already impressing clients with his knowledge and enthusiasm.”
Commenting on his decision to join BPE Jon said: “BPE has a regional reputation for its construction and engineering work and its client base is impressive. They have a real passion for cutting through the law to provide the best commercial solution for clients and I'm excited to join the team."
Outside work Jon, who lives in Stroud, is an avid Gloucester RFC fan, spending many a weekend at Kingsholm.
BPE was the only law firm between Bristol and Birmingham to be ranked for Construction and Engineering by independent legal directory The Legal 500. The Legal 500 said: “BPE's construction practice has been transformed by the arrival of former materials engineer Derryn Rolfe.”
