Sex Discrimination case
In a case which is a timely reminder to careless employers a woman in Ashford in Kent has been awarded £5,146 by Tribunal as she had to endure sexist remarks and toilet humour from male colleagues.
She was driven to action when her line manager, Mr Nye made her wear a badge that proclaimed “I’m simple”. In addition to this she had endured a string of laddish behaviour and claimed that male colleagues leered at female passers by and jokes that woman were unable to park cars. Furthermore, Mr Nye would break wind in her direction.
The Claimant, a Mrs Bailey, represented herself in this Tribunal and said she was very satisfied with what she had achieved under the Sex Discrimination Act.
