BPE Swing into Action with Softball tournament
BPE Solicitors hosted a Softball tournament last night – on the eve of American Independence day. The event was held in the beautiful grounds of the National Star College at Ullenwood, Cheltenham.

The event was a resounding success with over 100 people and 9 teams competing to prove their prowess at this American “not quite rounders” game.

Participants at the event included teams from Allcooper, Barclays Bank, BPE Solicitors, DTZ, Hazlewoods, Moss Construction and Anixter Fasteners who fielded 3 teams (Warriors, Angels and Rejects). All teams showed sportsmanship, humour and a “very competitive nature”.

Each team batted for 15 minutes, aiming to score as many points as possible to get through to the next round. Fuelled by an American sized BBQ and lots of bottles of Bud, the knockout tournament was won by Barclays – despite their team captain Andy Bird receiving a softball bump on the head in the final match.

The event raised both awareness and funds for the National Star College – a local charity that BPE and many of the guests are supporting.

BPE’s Head of Commercial Property Julian Pyrke, who captained the BPE team, said:

“Once again we were thrilled to see so many friends from the business community come to compete against BPE and support the National Star College. Thankfully most of us managed to hit the ball and run to each of the bases without seriously injuring ourselves. Well done to the tournament winners Barclays – who I am sure have been practising. We look forward to return matches – and hopefully on similar balmy summer’s evenings”.
