Gareth Davies
24-year-old Gareth Davies was delighted when offered a training contract by BPE. “I was thrilled to be offered the chance to train with such an ambitious and progressive firm, who were openly supportive when I told them of my career ambitions, and after meeting with a selection of other trainees and partners, I had no hesitation in accepting the firm's offer” said Gareth, a keen football player in his spare time. After completing his degree and the LPC at the College of Law, Gareth was looking to train at a commercial firm that offered trainees a broad experience of different sectors of the law.
“BPE offer exactly what I am looking for in a training contract. I am given the opportunity to gain valuable experience in different practice areas before making the ultimate decision of which area to qualify into. Each of the teams I have sat with has gone out of their way to help and support me.
“With offices in Cheltenham and Birmingham, it’s also given me the chance to sample different market places which has been beneficial to my training. From the start I’ve been involved in various projects ranging from dealing with a world wide freezing order in my Insolvency seat to dealing with admissions to AIM and the Full List of the London Stock Exchange in Corporate” added Gareth.
“I expressed at an early stage, and at the regular appraisals I have had, that Corporate was the practice area I wanted to qualify into. BPE have been very flexible and accommodating, making provisions for my final seat to be in Corporate, which means I will have a solid year’s experience before hitting the ground running as a newly qualified corporate solicitor.
“The firm trusts you as a trainee to run parts of a project yourself and to contact clients directly. That's real responsibility very early on and you're expected to handle this – it’s great to see the firm support my progress. I’m really enjoying my time at BPE” said Gareth.
