Pier deal a smooth ride thanks to BPE Solicitors
Commercial law experts from BPE Solicitors LLP have advised Gravitron Design over a major contract to provide funfair rides for the Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare.
The contract - to design, manufacture and install eight amusements in total – required input from BPE Solicitors’ legal advisers to negotiate increased levels of protection for the Gloucestershire company and ensure it was fully aware of its obligations.
In addition to traditional fairground attractions such as dodgems, a ghost train and a fun house, Gravitron is also providing a 40-foot helter skelter and a unique two-tier go-kart track.
Such a large order has not only seen the company double its workforce but in early 2009 it also moved its headquarters from Stonehouse to Stroud.
Iain Garfield, partner and head of the commercial team at BPE Solicitors said:
“Weston pier is an icon of the British seaside and it has been extremely interesting to work with Gravitron on this high-profile project.
“Its reputation for innovation means Gravitron is in high demand worldwide and we hope to continue advising the company as it embarks on future deals.”
Gravitron Design is owned by Morgan Nicholas and Heather Latham. Commenting on the Weston-super-Mare deal, Mr Nicholas said:
"The pier project has kept everyone busy. It is very good news. We have all sorts of skilled people here.
"The Grand Pier is a huge investment for the individuals who own it. I think it is great," he went on to say.
"It will generate hundreds of jobs in the area once it is up and running."
BPE Solicitors’ commercial team is known for its 'can do' approach and ability to provide commercial support, without getting bogged down in the law.
