BPE Solicitors acts for Lilian Faithfull Homes in acquisition of Royal Court Care

Gloucestershire legal firm BPE Solicitors has advised Lilian Faithfull Homes, the Cheltenham based charity which owns and operates five care homes in the town, on the acquisition of Royal Court Care.

Lilian Faithfull Homes celebrated its 70th anniversary this year and is named after the founder who was a pioneer in education and social change. In 1947 Cheltenham Old People’s Housing Society, the organisation she helped establish the previous year, purchased its first property to provide care for 12 ladies.

On her death at the age of 87 in 1952, the committee decided to rename the organisation Lilian Faithfull Homes in honour of her.

Now the charity, with the addition of Royal Court, has five properties in Cheltenham including Astell House, Faithfull House and Dowty House and nursing care home St Faith’s.

Martin Hughes, Chief Executive of Lilian Faithfull Homes, said: “We are now one of the largest providers of adult social care in Gloucestershire and, as our founder would wish, we want to do more.  With the considerable assistance of the team at BPE who were instrumental in advising the charity we have plans to grow further”.

Led by Corporate Associate Solicitor Adam Kean and Property Partner Jo Bewley, the team at BPE was responsible for securing Royal Court care home for the charity.

Adam commented: “This was a great step for Lilian Faithfull Homes taking its turnover to £10million plus and making it one of Gloucestershire’s largest care providers. The transaction also showcases BPE’s knowledge and experience of the care sector, allowing us to advise our client at all stages of the transaction and ensure a smooth transition post acquisition.”

The corporate team at BPE pride themselves on their sound legal advice and support of all types of businesses. They act as trusted advisers and seek to help structure their clients’ businesses to achieve sustained growth.
