BPE Solicitors announces 2020 charity partnership with Severn Freewheelers

A new and exciting charity partnership between BPE Solicitors and Severn Freewheelers has been announced which will see the firm supporting the blood bike charity during 2020.

Severn Freewheelers is part of the National Blood Bike Network.  It is run entirely by volunteers who provide a courier service delivering essential medical items including blood, human tissue, patient scans, human milk and medication, between NHS facilities in Hereford, Worcester, Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire.

They are providing key support to the NHS during the current Coronavirus epidemic and deliver an out of hours service, operating between 7pm and 7am each weekday, throughout the weekend and on public holidays.

As it receives no official funding and is reliant on donations, BPE will be raising awareness and money to support Severn Freewheelers to enable maintenance of the motorbikes and provide infrastructure support such as insurance and fuel.  Severn Freewheelers was chosen as the firm’s charity of the year having been championed by Karen Marsh, a member of the IT team at BPE, who volunteers as a dispatch coordinator.

On the partnership, Senior Partner John Workman, said: “The whole firm is really excited to be supporting a local charity that will benefit from our fundraising. The volunteers at Severn Freewheelers do exceptional work to support the NHS. The need for their services is undoubtedly going to increase in the current climate so we’re delighted to be fundraising for them during 2020.”

Tim Kidwell, Events Manager at Severn Freewheelers, said: “We’re thrilled that BPE Solicitors has chosen to support us this year. The fundraising will have a huge impact on our service and we’re looking forward to getting started with our activities together. It costs between £16,000 and £18,000 to maintain a single bike for a year, so BPE’s support will really benefit us.”
