I am a Consultant Solicitor in the Cyber and Tech team, advising both customers and suppliers (from small start-ups to global giants) on IT, IP and tech deals. I get a real buzz from collaborating with the business teams (often in multiple countries) working to resolve over-complexity; curing alleged “show-stoppers” and identifying the real commercial/ legal risks for my clients.
My background is that, after University, I served 15 years as a Warfare Officer in the Royal Navy (including qualifying as a Mandarin Interpreter) and then, on leaving the Navy, I qualified as an English and Hong Kong solicitor in Clyde & Co.
I moved from Clyde & Co to my first in-house solicitor role in PCCW in Hong Kong - covering large and small outsourcing, SI, Cyber and Cloud deals throughout the Asia Pacific Region - many of which involved resolution of complex regulatory, data protection and competition law issues. On returning to UK, I worked as inhouse solicitor for a Reuters Group company and then for 17 years in CSC/DXC - a US based multi-national IT corporation advising on global and local software, SaaS, IP deals in over 40 jurisdictions across all industry sectors and in the public sector.
