The best commercial solution is sometimes as much a creative one as a legal one
I joined BPE’s Commercial team in August 2017 having previously worked as a Commercial Solicitor in the IT/Technology team at a national firm. One of the reasons I chose to work at BPE is because it offers the opportunity to work with prestigious national companies and exciting local start-ups alike.
As a former computer programmer and IT consultant in the financial services sector, I chose to specialise in IT and technology when I qualified to bring my practical experience and expertise into my legal work for clients. My particular focus is on e-commerce contracts, software licences, and outsourcing arrangements (including cloud computing solutions).
I believe that understanding how a client’s business operates and what they are looking to achieve is the best way to ensure that the larger commercial issues aren’t overlooked in favour of the small print. A robust contract will save a client time, money and inconvenience further down the line but the best commercial solution is sometimes as much a creative one as a legal one.
