BPE Solicitors LLP is proud to be the official Legal Partner of British Racing Motors for 2024

Founded in 1949, British Racing Motors has been a key player in the motor racing industry for decades. They raced from 1950 to 1974, winning 17 Grands Prix and 1 Grand Prix Championship; and still holding the record for winning the closest ever Grand Prix Finish. They’ve had a number of well-known drivers, including Stirling Moss, Graham Hill, Fangio and Niki Lauda.

British Racing Motors has been owned by the Owen family since 1952, when the operation was acquired by Sir Alfred Owen and his siblings Ernest and Jean. In 2019, four of Sir Alfred’s descendants decided to embark on a journey to introduce BRM to a new audience and go racing with the commissioning of a rebuilt “Chassis IV” – a 1950 1.5 litre V16. Their project was named “The Re-Awakening”.

“Our view is very much that we are custodians of this very significant piece of British motorsport history. We hold it in trust for all those who made it happen, and indeed for the nation and future generations. We want to acknowledge and highlight just what was achieved by these remarkable people.” – Quote from Paul, Nick, Simon and John Owen.

This year, BRM has attended a variety of the most well-known motorsport events in the UK, including the Prescott Historique festival, held on our doorstep at the Prescott Hill Climb at the end of May, which BPE helped to sponsor. BPE’s Senior Partner, John Workman and Partner, Philip Radford were delighted to attend this prestigious event with some petrol head guests, thanks to BPE’s relationship as BRM’s official legal partner.

“Partnering with British Racing Motors just made sense to us as a law firm. Philip Radford has had a life-long interest in classic cars with particular interest in combining his passions to support classic car deals and classic car litigation over the 25 years he has been with BPE. Philip’s expertise, paired with the firm’s business-focused offering, aim to give BRM the high quality, bespoke legal treatment that they deserve during their ‘Re-Awakening’. As a business, we applaud and support the driven (no pun intended!) and those with vision, ambition and determination. That is BRM and the BRM team all over.” – John Workman, Senior Partner.

British Racing Motors will be attending the Goodwood Festival of Speed event from the 11th to the 14th of July, continuing to showcase the Chassis IV V16.
