I trained as a Barrister specialising in advocacy, and then engaged in advocacy in the county courts as a solicitor agent for 3 years. In 2013 I qualified as a solicitor and have developed a practise specialising in commercial and residential property litigation. I also practise in other areas of civil litigation, including commercial contract disputes, and commercial debt recovery. I have also developed a specialism in contentious probate, dealing with probate disputes.
Examples of matters I am regularly instructed on include:
- Commercial Property Disputes: Lease renewals under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954; dilapidations claims; forfeiture claims and claims for relief from forfeiture; commercial rent recovery (CRAR); advising on exercising break clauses, and the preparation and service of break notices;
- Residential Property Disputes: Right to Manage claims under the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002; Leasehold enfranchisement under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967; Collective enfranchisement; Service charge and ground rent disputes and recovery; Repossession of properties let on an assured shorthold basis, and related rent arrears; claims for possession brought by mortgage-lenders;
- Other property dispute areas in which I specialise include: disputes between beneficiaries under trusts of land, under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996; advising on claimed prescriptive easements; advising on breaches of restrictive covenants, and claims to dispense with restrictive covenants.
I act for both corporate and individual clients, and from the outset I believe it is crucial to understand a client’s priorities and objectives. I then pursue the client’s objectives thoroughly and robustly, while always maintaining a pragmatic approach.
