About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Compliance Manager to join our team. Legal and Professional Services experience is essential. This is a key position within our Compliance department. The Compliance Manager is responsible for managing the firm’s day to day compliance framework, supervising the Compliance Administrator, and ensuring the firm meets all regulatory obligations under the SRA Standards and Regulations, AML legislation, and relevant FCA requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Operations — Oversee the firm’s compliance programme, ensuring adherence to SRA, AML, GDPR, and FCA obligations.

  • Team Leadership — Line manage and develop the Compliance Administrator, delegating tasks and monitoring performance.

  • File Opening — Supervise and support the file opening process, including conflict checks and risk assessments.

  • Policy & Legal Registers — Maintain and update compliance policies, legal registers, and firmwide risk registers.

  • File Reviews — Conduct regular file audits, ensuring quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

  • Anti Money Laundering — Oversee AML processes, including ongoing monitoring, and enhanced due diligence. Support the MLRO.

  • Suspicious Activity Reports — Prepare and submit SARs, liaising with the MLRO as required.

  • Risk Collaboration — Work closely with the Head of Risk & Compliance on strategic risk initiatives and regulatory updates.

  • Quarterly Board Reporting — Produce clear, data driven quarterly compliance reports for the Management Board.

  • Training & Awareness — Deliver compliance training and promote a culture of risk awareness across the firm.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Previous experience as a Compliance Manager within a law firm (essential).

  • Strong knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules, FCA and AML rules.

  • Analytical and excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
