Family Solicitor
Family Team
We are looking for a Family Solicitor with 2–3 years’ post-qualification experience to join our Family team. You will manage a varied caseload of family law matters and provide clear, pragmatic and compassionate advice to clients during, what can often be, sensitive and challenging circumstances.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who is ready to take greater ownership of matters, build strong client relationships, and contribute to the continued development of a supportive and collaborative team.
The role
Working closely with colleagues across the Family team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day conduct of your matters, deliver high-quality legal advice, and contribute to business development and the wider success of the team.
Key responsibilities
Managing a varied caseload of family law matters, which may include divorce and separation, financial remedy, private children matters, cohabitation and related issues.
Advising clients clearly and sensitively, setting realistic expectations and maintaining regular communication throughout each matter.
Drafting and reviewing correspondence, court applications, witness statements, agreements, and other legal documents.
Conducting advocacy where appropriate and instructing and liaising with counsel, experts, courts and other third parties.
Managing files, deadlines, costs information and matter updates in accordance with regulatory requirements and firm procedures.
Meeting agreed financial, time-recording and matter-management expectations.
Contributing to business development, networking, marketing and knowledge-sharing activities within the team and wider firm.
Supporting and working collaboratively with colleagues, including providing guidance to junior team members where appropriate.
Handling confidential and sensitive information with care, discretion and professionalism.
About you
A qualified solicitor in England and Wales with approximately 2–3 years’ PQE and relevant family law experience.
Experience of managing your own caseload with appropriate supervision and support.
Sound technical knowledge across a range of family law matters and a commitment to maintaining and developing that knowledge.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues in clear and practical terms.
A calm, empathetic and professional approach when supporting clients through sensitive matters.
Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
A commercial and proactive mindset, with an interest in developing client relationships and contributing to business development.
A collaborative, flexible and team-focused approach, together with a commitment to delivering excellent client service.
