Support for your business

Senior Executive Severance

Severance / Exit plans and agreements are an inevitable part of the employment environment. Should an employee, senior manager or director choose to leave your business and/or should a business itself decide that this would be the appropriate way forward, protecting the business will be essential.

In order to do this, you may need to negotiate a Settlement Agreement so as to avoid a long and expensive dispute and/or to secure a clean and certain outcome, where the departure is managed properly and in an orderly fashion. There can therefore often be great merit in offering a severance package (via a Settlement Agreement), including a financial settlement and where a number of other wider objectives can be achieved.

Terminating Employment

We understand acutely the complexities and challenges that arise when senior executives leave a business. We take pride in ensuring that any disruption and/or risk to your business is minimised, in so far as is possible.

From contractual entitlements to dealing with shares, from enforcing post-employment restrictions, to negotiating the terms of references and announcements, our experienced solicitors will always seek to secure the optimum outcome for a business, with that business’ explicit priorities always in mind.

However you choose to agree to terminate the employment of a senior employee, our Employment Team are able to assist you in deciding what the best course of action is and how to achieve the expressed priorities and objectives, whatever they may be.

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your counsel and guidance as we worked through this process. You have been very supportive at all the right moments and provided me with sound advise and legal representation throughout. That in itself is not small feet in what can be a highly emotional situation, you managed to keep things sensible, calm and objective. I will have no hesitation in recommending you.
