Celebrating excellence and resilience

It is a great pleasure to be involved once again this year in the Cotswold Life EMI Awards, celebrating the Engineering, Manufacturing and Innovation excellence that flourishes across our region.

Last week, I joined an esteemed panel of judges to consider this year’s entries. It’s clear that despite uncertainties in the economy, political landscape and the future regulations surrounding international trade in and out of the EU, individual firms are rising to today’s – and tomorrow’s - challenges.

As sponsor of the Lifetime Achievement category, we will be marking the contribution of a person who has played a significant role in the success of the region’s engineering community over many years. Longevity in business is, without doubt, to be celebrated. It can only be achieved through perseverance and in the face of market uncertainty and our ever-changing economic landscapes, without which the drive to keep innovating is not enough. Those who thrive in business over the long-term understand the importance of embracing change, having a clear vision, strong leadership and a skilled team around them.
