Trainee takes on the London Marathon
In just under two weeks’ time, a member of staff from Gloucestershire based law firm BPE Solicitors will be running the London Marathon in aid of Sue Ryder.
Trainee Solicitor Olivia Holden will be taking on the famous 26.2 mile route through London with the aim of raising in excess of £1,000. Olivia was lucky enough to be selected to run on her first attempt at applying for a spot. She has been training hard, with her favourite training route beginning and ending in Pittville Park. Despite picking up an injury in March, Olivia is making good progress with her training and is hoping to complete the route in under five hours.
Olivia, who is in her final seat of her training contract and plans to qualify into BPE’s Commercial Property team, is running in aid of Sue Ryder Hospice, Leckhampton Court, a charity that supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. The hospice has 16 in-patient beds and is the only facility of its kind in the entire county so all the money that Olivia raises will go to Leckhampton Court here in Cheltenham.
On her first marathon, Olivia said: “Running the iconic London Marathon is going to be a real challenge but I am excited to take this on. Training has been going well and I feel confident that I will complete the course in a good time. I hope that my fundraising makes a real difference to the people who go to Sue Ryder Hospice”.
Matthew Reay, Senior Community Fundraiser at Leckhampton Court Hospice said: “This year we have nine incredible runners taking on what is arguably the most iconic Marathon of them all in aid of Leckhampton Court, Gloucestershire's only inpatient hospice. Olivia is a huge part of that team and has been pounding the streets for many months now getting some serious miles under her belt ready for Sunday 28th April. I've even had the privilege to run with Olivia on a few training runs so know how much effort and dedication she's put in to completing what is a massive personal challenge and one that means a lot to her.
It costs £10,000 a day to support all the hospice services so every penny Olivia raises will really help our Sue Ryder Nurses, doctors, care team, support staff and family support team be there for local families when it matters, giving expert and compassionate palliative and bereavement support. Everyone here at the hospice is right behind Olivia and will be every step of the 26.2 miles".
