COVID-19 and Beyond - the rise of Alternative Dispute Resolution (Part 3)
Resolving issues using digital mediation
If your company is involved in a dispute or is facing potential litigation, considering an alternative form of dispute resolution such as mediation is a good alternative offering numerous benefits including:
- Quicker resolution of the issue
- Higher chance of settlement
- Reduction in costs
However with government advice still recommending that people should work from home wherever possible and comply with social distancing, mediation in its traditional sense is currently hard to achieve.
Digital mediation
Using technology platforms such as Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp or FaceTime allows parties to attend a mediation remotely and for the mediator to operate mediation in a similar way as a face to face session.
All sessions remain confidential and the mediator will manage and invite participants as required.
With some form of social distancing likely to be in force for some time to come, digital mediation is proving to be invaluable for businesses looking to resolve disputes quickly and as amicably as possible.
Our mediators have decades of experience and are able to advise on a range of issues from negligence, fraud and property disputes to IP, confidentiality and defamation matters.
