BPE Solicitors’ Corporate Team shortlisted for three awards
Cheltenham based regional law firm, BPE Solicitors, is celebrating its Corporate Team, which has been shortlisted for three awards in the Insider South West Dealmakers Awards 2020. Up against lawyers, accountants, bankers and financiers from across the South West, the shortlisting is a testament to the breadth and depth of the Corporate Team’s expertise and reach.
The first shortlisting is for Emerging Dealmaker of the Year, an award that celebrates an up and coming professional who has shown an ability to create value and innovate. Partner Adam Kean has been shortlisted for this award after a very successful year advising clients on acquisitions, investments and management buyouts. Adam has spent most of his career with BPE and was made Partner in 2020.
Adam says “I feel very proud to be shortlisted in this category and to receive recognition for the work I have done for my clients. I congratulate my fellow nominees and look forward to October.”
The sale of long-standing client Warner’s Budgens to The Midcounties Cooperative, led by Dale Williams, has been nominated for Small Deal of the Year. This was a particularly complex deal which required collaboration across several teams at BPE to achieve the sale that Warner’s Budgens wanted and to allow the Budgens business to continue to thrive.
The Corporate Team’s third shortlisting for Deal of the Year is for advising the management team of Partners& Limited on a significant multi-million initial equity investment from US private equity firm Capital Z Partners with Adam Kean and Senior Partner John Workman advising following a series of acquisitions. This deal created a new insurance advisory provider in the insurance advisory market within the South West which made its debut in the Top 100 UK Brokers in 2020 with £65m gross written premium.
Louise Grzasko, Partner and Head of Corporate said: “These shortlistings are very exciting and I feel very proud of the work the team has done over the past twelve months. We’re looking forward to the awards ceremony in October and wish every nominated firm luck”.
With more than 70 lawyers and 130 staff in total, BPE works with clients across wide-ranging sectors and at every level of industry; from large multi-nationals, regional entrepreneurial SMEs and start-ups to private clients.
Senior Partner, John Workman, said: “To be shortlisted for three awards is a big achievement and I’m proud to see the work of the whole Corporate team being acknowledged in these awards. The South West has a strong legal market and the depth and complexity of the deals the BPE Corporate team has completed over the past twelve months is recognised by this shortlisting."
