BPE Solicitors advises tech start up on innovative social distancing technology

Cheltenham based BPE Solicitors has advised Wearable Link on its latest product Plinx.  With organisations keen to get back to business and the difficulties that many may encounter in order to comply with social distancing guidelines, Plinx has been rolled out to support workers, particularly those in the Construction sector, to maintain a safe distance from each other.

Founder Tommy Williams originally created a tracker for surfers to prevent them from getting lost at sea but soon realised the wider possibilities for the product.

Featured recently on BBC One’s The One Show, Wearable Link adapted the original design and Plinx is now worn on safety helmets and uses Bluetooth, GPS and Wireless technology to warn wearers when they are too close.  This data can also be sent to a local hub and overlayed onto a site map to show which areas create pinchpoints and might need improvement.

Wearable Link have been supported by Betaden, the Malvern based business accelerator.

Partner in the IT & Cyber team, Emma Hickson, said: “Its fantastic to see the way Plinx has been adapted so quickly to provide a solution to the issue of social distancing in the construction sector.  The team at Wearable Link have been fantastic to work with and I’m delighted to be have been a part of getting this product to market.”
