BPE complete lockdown challenge for charity
From walking the dog and going for runs to hitting the road on the bike, a team of nineteen from BPE Solicitors have spent the past month getting out and about to raise awareness of the firm’s Charity of the Year, Severn Freewheelers.
In a bid to add a little variety to the last few weeks of national lockdown, staff at the Gloucestershire based law firm took on the challenge of travelling the distance between each of the main hospitals supported by Severn Freewheelers in any way they could.
The target was set at 181.1 miles per team member and between them, the team managed to clock up an impressive 3482 miles over four weeks. Some set themselves extra challenges along the way with Senior Partner, John Workman, completing the challenge in a week and Leanne Cooper almost doubling the target with an impressive 350 miles on her own!
John Workman, Senior Partner at BPE said, “The ‘Going the Extra mile’ challenge was designed to support our Charity of the Year, Severn Freewheelers and to raise awareness of the fantastic work they do supporting the NHS throughout Gloucestershire and neighbouring counties. We were also keen to organise something which brought some of our team together, many of whom haven’t seen each other in over a year. The benefits of regular exercise are well documented and, as lawyers, anything with a competitive element tends to get lots of interest. I’m delighted that so many of our team took part in the challenge and, as well as awareness, we have also been able to raise almost £600 for Severn Freewheelers to support their ongoing work.”
