Resolution is a community of family law professionals who are dedicated to avoiding confrontation when dealing with separating families and their children. Recognising that a non-confrontational approach often produces more constructive outcomes for those involved, Resolution provides a framework and Code of Practice which its members are expected to both follow and exemplify.

2025 has been Resolution’s Year of the Code, with there being an increased emphasis on ensuring that the Resolution Code of Practice is being adhered to at all times, with focus being placed on:

  • family matters being resolved in as amicable a way as possible.
  • all clients being treated with respect and no judgement and;
  • ensuring that advice is given in a clear and constructive way.

BPE’s Family team are members of Resolution and recognise that Court involvement should very much be considered a last resort, with all other forms of dispute resolution explored first. At BPE Solicitors in Cheltenham, we offer two distinct services to clients, alongside legal advice.

Firstly, we offer family mediation whereby couples can discuss financial/children issues together, alongside an impartial mediator, who will be able to offer guidance and help them to reach an agreement of their own accord.  This is a cost effective and less contentious way of couples reaching an agreement, when engagement and constructive discussions are possible.

Secondly, the Resolution Together scheme allows one solicitor to assist the couple and advise them jointly on issues surrounding their separation, rather than each person instructing their own solicitor.  This again places an importance on couples cooperating to reach an agreement, with the relevant court documentation confirming that agreement being drawn up by the solicitor.

If you would like further information on either of these services or require legal advice, our Family team would be happy to assist, where all efforts will be made to ensure that matters are dealt with sensitively, constructively and as amicably as possible. Click here to learn more.
