Two weeks to go!
Well, there are now 2 weeks to go until John, Tim, Kathryn and I embark on our epic cycling adventure in France. I have today had a barrage of emails from Eurotunnel wanting, it appears, to know every detail about anyone who will be travelling, including inside leg measurement (not really, but not far off).
We have a crossing of 10.50 am which means leaving BPE Towers at around 5.30 in the morning on Thursday 17th September. Fortunately, an incredibly generous friend of the firm has agreed to arrange for a car and driver to drive us around the whole time. We are so grateful for this as it means that a bunch of grumpy, tired cyclists are not in charge of the wheel in a foreign country!
As promised last week, I am blogging this week to provide an overview of our route for the three days, so here we go...
DAY 1 – Le Mans
177 Miles
9600 feet of climbing
DAY 2 - Le Mans to Poitiers
180 miles
8300 feet climbing
DAY 3 – Poitiers
160 miles
10250 feet of climbing
Overall, we’ll be cycling a grand total of around 520 miles with over 28,000 feet of climbing. All in just 3 days. My legs are hurting thinking about it!
Unfortunately, the terrible Bank Holiday weather somewhat scuppered my training plans for this weekend, but c’est la vie! I am sure I’ll be out on the bike in the coming weeks putting the finishing touches on my preparations for the ride.
