BPE raises a glass to Woodchester Valley Vineyard's success

Guests of BPE Solicitors were treated to the delectable wines of Woodchester Valley Vineyard in South Woodchester while hearing about their 10-year journey, leading to its recent success at the UK Wine Awards.

Following a welcome glass of the Silver Medal-winning Bacchus wine, Fiona Shiner, Director and Owner of Woodchester Valley Vineyard provided guests with a fascinating insight into the business’ history and current ventures.

The family-owned vineyard was established in 2007, however Fiona explained that there are records of grapes being grown in the area dating back to Roman times. Fiona described the transformation over the years, from the initial planting in Amberley, to the expansion into Woodchester and Doverow in Stonehouse, creating a forty-five-acre vineyard.

Simon Taylor, Sales and Marketing Manager, gave a passionate explanation of how the vineyard has expanded its repertoire of award-winning still and sparkling wines over the years. Simon shared with guests how, on their first year of entering, the team came away with three medals from the 2017 UK Wine Awards; Gold for the Pinot Rosé 2016, Silver for the Bacchus 2016 and Bronze for the Culver Hill 2016.

“What a treat it is to hear how this extraordinary and brilliant family business has developed into the success it is today,” Antonia Shield, Head of Commercial Property at BPE, commented. “I moved to the area in 2007 and am delighted to sample the delicious wines that I have watched grow over the last 10 years from my doorstep.”

Simon continued: “After many conversations, it is an absolute pleasure for us to be able to host one of BPE’s ‘Art Of’ events. It has provided us with an excellent opportunity to celebrate and showcase our wines with BPE and their guests.”

BPE launched the Brilliance programme of events to celebrate the extraordinary achievements and diverse talents that flourish within the Cotswolds. This was the fifth event in BPE’s Brilliance series, with previous events held at Beards Jewellers, the Highgrove Estate, Crazy Eights at No.131 and Hobbs House Bakery.

The next instalment of the Brilliance programme will showcase the innovations of Gloucester Services, as guests will be invited to celebrate the festive season with delicious treats, inspirational stories and an opportunity to sneak in some Christmas shopping at the Art of Christmas.
