BPE act for The Smallpeice Trust on progressive merger

Gloucestershire law firm, BPE Solicitors have acted for the Warwickshire-based charity, The Smallpeice Trust on their recent merger with The Artwright Scholarships Trust.

The Smallpeice Trust is the UK’s largest STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education charity, reaching circa 50,000 young people a year through their programmes. The Arkwright Scholarships Trust supports future leaders in engineering during their A-Level (or equivalent) studies via their highly coveted Arkwright Engineering Scholarships programme. A record 425 Arkwright Engineering scholarships were Awarded in 2017.

Through the combined efforts of BPE’s Corporate and Science & Technology teams, the merger successfully brought together the two charities enabling it to offer educational institutions, parents and young students a single point of contact for a wide range of STEM resources, courses, scholarships and mentors already working within the engineering and science sectors.

Dr Kevin P Stenson, Chief Executive of The Smallpeice Trust said: “The combination of these two leading charities will help to further meet the UK’s increasing demand for skilled engineers while supporting schools and universities tasked with preparing students for the world of work. BPE’s guidance, advice and expert knowledge throughout the proceedings was invaluable in making sure the merger was a success and the transition a smooth one.”

BPE’s Rob Bryan commented: “BPE has worked with The Smallpeice Trust for a number of years. It was a pleasure helping them with this progressive merger and to see the next step become a reality.”
