BPE Solicitors passes £35,000 in Macmillan fundraising

Cotswolds law firm BPE Solicitors has continued to support Macmillan Cancer Support with a week-long static bike challenge made possible thanks to Pure Gym, who donated the use of the bike.

Always keen to get in the saddle for charity, the team at BPE clocked up an impressive 524 miles with over 60 people filling more than 100 half-hour slots to keep the miles stacking up from Monday to Friday, raising more than £550 to add to the grand total.

With challenges for different age groups, there was a degree of competition between the providers of pedal power, with the lead changing hands (or feet) several times each day.

Senior Partner, John Workman, said: “Our partnership with Macmillan is now in its second year and is going well. We made a strong start, passing the £20,000 mark in August last year, and we are well on course for our target of hitting £54,000 by the end of 2018.

“We have a number of other significant fundraising activities going on throughout the year, including entering teams into the Macmillan Coracle race, and holding a BPE Golf Day in May. We are confident that we will hit our target with the support of our staff, clients and partners.”

The winners of the age group challenges were Lucy Robbins, Dianne Devlin, George Dale and Matthew Brown, with Alessandro Morgan-Gianni winning the prize draw. John Workman covered 48.5 miles, cycling all five days to claim the otherwise uncontested' Over 57 Senior Partner' category.

“All the riders should be proud of the efforts they put in,” continued John. “The cumulative distance clocked up, averaging more than 100 miles a day, must mean there are a few sore saddles in the office this week.”
